Adding
Color to Photographs
Colorization is adding color to a monochrome photograph.
This used to be done by hand painting on the original
picture. It can now be done by computer on a copy of the
photograph thus preserving the original. The colors used are
based on the best judgment of the restorer unless colors are
suggested by the provider of the original photograph. Modern
photographs can also be converted to monochrome and a
selected section then colorized to add interest.
